You Know the Night Time...
....is the right time.........to be.......with the one you love now.......as Ray Charles so eloquently informed us of so many years ago. I don't know much about that as of late, but I do know that it is a nice time for thinking.Aimless wandering and thinking.I haven't done that in a while. Now that I have a professional job, with professional work hours, that require a professional amount of sleep, and all that jazz, I don't often find time to wander the streets late at night. There's something about a city at night. The character of it changes. The energy level comes down, and it becomes serene.A night like tonight, where it's rainy, a bit chilly...the streetlights reflect off the street, and the cars go whooshing by in the sprays of water....it's an ambience that's hard to find in many other settings. It just puts off it's own vibe. It's not a vibe where i can listen to metal. I listen to hip-hop, some R&B if I start feeling romantic. When I say feeling romantic, that's when I let my mind wander to thoughts of "how nice it would be if I was walking hand in hand with someone right now. Not necessarily talking...just being."I suppose it's no coincidence that one of my favorite R&B songs is "A Long Walk" by Jill Scott.
Or maybe we can see a movieOr maybe we can see a play on SaturdayOr maybe we can roll a tree and feel the breeze and listen to a symphonyOr maybe chill and just be, or maybeMaybe we can take a cruise and listen to the Roots or maybe eat some passion fruitOr maybe cry to the bluesOr maybe we could just be silent
Let's take a long walk around the park after darkFind a spot for us to sparkConversation, verbal elation, stimulationShare our situations, temptations, education, relaxationsElevations, maybe we can talk about Surah 31:18

I also was grooving to some J-Dilla as I wandered through Logan Square. I was at a party...way later than I expected. I got to dance though. Salsa, Bachata...I even danced a little Tango...badly...but still. I love the Tango. I really want to learn. In due time I suppose. But I just like breathing in the night air...letting my mind wander, and feeling some of the stress, the worry, the insecurity, melt away, as the music just surrounds you...and that particular song, "She Said"...it has a sexiness about it, but still mad street swagger, with fierce lyricism. Pulls it all together. Kind of song you can nod your head to, but you could a moment later be pulling a woman close to you too...inhaling the soft scent of her neck as your bodies come together, sharing one moment, with one rhythm.
"She said, it'll be good if you stay with me tonight...so I granted her wish."
That's hotness...

So I took the long way to hop the blue line. Thinking, wandering. I was feeling a bit down when I left the party...but walking, listening...it helps me find equilibrium. Sometimes the simplest of pleasures can do it.
The night time is the right time....
