In 2015...Find Your Hype!
I've been told that my life experiences have left me with a nice amount of wisdom. I'm not sure if I agree, but I feel that we all have something to impart on others. I'm trying really hard to make 2015 an awesome year (insert Kid President voice right there), and I'd like to perhaps influence others to do the same. Needless to say, my year is off to a very rough start, but I'm keeping my head up, and hoping for the best. So, if we're going to take the world by storm in 2015, I think the first thing we have to do is find our hype. What is "a hype" you say?
HypeA form of energy usable when once reaches a peak of maximum capacity. Going into 'Hype' will allow for extreme bouts of physical action.Person A: GOD DAMN IT!Person B: WHAT?!Person A: -Starts punching and kicking the air wildly at a consistently increasing speed.-AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!Person B: The hell?Person A: -Smacks person B with a pillow.- WHERE'S YOUR HYPE DAMN IT?! -Jumps off a flight of stairs and wave dashes out the door.-Person B: . . . -In awe-
Your hype is that thing which completely and totally fires you up!
For everyone, it's a little different. Your hype might be a song. It might be a movie. It might be a picture, or a quote.
Whatever it is, if you don't know what it is, this is the year in which you should find it. That's step one to taking it all.
You'll need your hype for those times that things seem bleak...or when your energy level is low. Sometimes you just need a hype to take from 99% to 105%!
So, I listen to a lot of podcasts (still working on my podcast page...will publish soon...promise!). I was recently listening to the Jasta Show (Love the Jasta Show) and the host Jamey was talking about this. He's the singer of several bands, most famously the hardcore band Hatebreed. I'm a huge Hatebreed fan. I actually introduced them on stage back in 2005 at Ozzfest, and got to meet the band. Love Hatebreed!
Anyway, he often talks about his hype:
- COFFEE
- DEATH METAL
- PUSHUPS
Simple. If he's feeling lazy, he drinks coffee. He'll drink said coffee while listening to death metal, and then throw some pushups in on top. Voila!
Jamey goes from this:
To this!
Business!
So, in 2015, find your hype! If you already have one, please share it below in the comment section. Perhaps your hype can become someone else's hype, and then you can hype together.
Allow me to offer you inspiration by adding a song that is totally one of my hypes. It's called Perseverance, and of course, is by Hatebreed. The thing about Hatebreed is, it sounds angry, but the lyrics to all of their songs are actually positive. It's a bunch of blue collar dudes raging about the things in life that are bothering and holding them down. When I was younger, I related to it so well. As an adult, I still relate. Jamey Jasta (singer of Hatebreed) is slightly older than me, and he often talks about how he still writes music that reflects his life and the struggles that life presents.

Read the lyrics below...if they're not hype worthy, I don't know what is.
Lyrics for Perseverance By Hatebreed
-
I know your fear of lossAnd your struggles with faithAnd how it takes everything that you have to face the dayThe virtues you possess now bring you eternal painAll you have is contempt for a life you can't obtainAll your heroes have failed youYet you try and prevailFace your torment and dismantle your doubtRefuse this legacy of shame and deceitCause the only real truth in your life that you know is hostility
Your world is coming apart
Remain steadfast
Perseverance
Against all opposition
Crushing all limitations
Pure strength through solitude
Discipline and determination
You can't accept what you've been told
Anchored in sin you must reverse your descent
Declare the weight of the world has yet to claim you
And admit that your faults will not restrain you
Glimpses of fate bring light to your despair
Realise hope isn't short of your grasp
Resurrect every dream that you've buried alive
And never succumb to the war that you fight
Your world is coming apart
Remain steadfast
Perseverance
Against all opposition
Crushing all limitations
Pure strength through solitude
Discipline and determination
I know your fear of loss
And your struggles with faith
And how it takes everything that you have to face the day
The virtues you possess now bring you eternal pain
