The Throat Punch!
[embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fMh6O7HuI08[/embed]So we all know that rejection sucks. That's nothing new or earth-shattering.I've always kind of prided myself on my ability to take rejection in stride. After you get something so many times, it just becomes old hand.
No? Ok. No problem.
But this rejection has come with a bit more poignancy. So, if you're one of my loyal followers, you're probably familiar with my current dating situation. If not, you can catch up with:
So, I'm sure most of you can relate to some degree; Finally having the opportunity to date a person you've desired for literally years.I mean, we've gotten along for years. We know we get along great. We've admitted there's a mutual physical attraction, and a mutual crush... seems pretty straight forward right?I though so too......until I got the proverbial throat punch. When I read her email, I had that visual in my head from the Pantera album, Vulgar Display of Power:To make a long story short, and to protect identity, I shall paraphrase the email:
HeyBlah, blah, blah. I don't think I'm in the right place right now for dating. It sucks because I suspect you have a really nice penis, and I totally looked forward to playing with it. It's not you, it's me. I always enjoy your company, and you always either make me laugh or give me something to think about. I think I'm going to table dating for now. Thanks for thinking I'm awesome, and I think you're awesome too. I seriously hope you understand and that we can remain friends.
Yes people... I got hit with the "It's not you, it's me." Also, I swear the part about my penis was in the actual letter.............ok, fine. Maybe it wasn't. Regardless......I've been booted.Of course we'll remain friends, because I'm a nice guy, and that's what nice guys do right?Plus we've been friends for a long time, and it'd be silly to see that end over this......right?Finally, my faithful readers will notice the quick turn around between this post and the second date update. I actually received the email prior to completing the second date post. However, for continuity sake, and to recall things as they came to pass, chronologically, I finished that post without allowing the email to color it too much.Be well.
